When it's time to learn Microsoft SharePoint no one gives you enough time and resources. You are using your free time, the evening and the weekend. Everyone is expecting results and no one has a plan for you.
There's one huge problem for everyone and it doesn't matter if you're a developer, administrator or end user: If you don't know what SharePoint is and why it has been created you won't be happy using it.
A lot of people feel "forced" to use SharePoint since no one tells about its advantages. No one tells them about problems in their current working environment and how SharePoint makes it easier to get their work done.

Can I Learn SharePoint for Free?
Of course you can, there are many tutorials on my website and if you use your favorite search engine you will get tons of search results with free tutorials. It's sufficient to learn the basic of SharePoint.
Is SharePoint Difficult To Learn?
No, SharePoint is not difficult to learn with the right SharePoint Training. You just need a plan, the right resources and motivation to learn something new.
Is it good to Learn SharePoint?
Yes, because there are lots of job opportunities out there. It's also challenging and fun.
What is the Best Way to Learn SharePoint?
There are a few steps I highly suggest you start with if you want to get started with SharePoint:
Learn what SharePoint is, what problems you have as an information worker and how SharePoint solves your problems.
Understand basic features like SharePoint sites, team site, document libraries or site collection.
Get how to's to solve specific tasks.
It's very important that you learn topics as specific as possible because you can get lost in thousands of different topics. Microsoft SharePoint is huge and a lot of people underestimate the effort.
It's not that important that you start with local SharePoint classes, SharePoint courses or other instructor led training. SharePoint Training is digital and there are lots of free and paid offers. Just do it with your own pace.
What are the prerequisites to learn SharePoint?
Just be open minded and if you have a little bit of knowledge in web development or other Microsoft Products you're good to go.

Summary
Based on my experience it depends on just one simple question if you're good at working with Microsoft SharePoint or if you fail.
You can be a good developer but if you don't understand why your customers need SharePoint you fail. You can be a skilled end user but if you're forced to switch your daily working routine and tools you won't use the full potential of SharePoint.
That's why it's most important to fully understand why your current working environment may not be efficient.
Don't get lost...
A lot of people get lost in the huge amount of unstructured information. Many people completely ignore why Microsoft created SharePoint. And most people want to absorb all information available.
Those are the top reasons why many people fail with SharePoint giving SharePoint a bad reputation.
SharePoint is fun and I'm happy that I don't know everything. But I know where to find information when I need them and which people to ask.
I'm sharing the exact same steps I used to get started with SharePoint.
