No one gave me the memo on how to sit*, but if you’re currently studying, considering a career in law and identify as being LGBTQ+, check out the video below of a great opportunity to learn from not just one but 5 law firms on experiences being LGBTQ+ in law.*** interpret my posture as a representation of how comfortable we are at Freshfields being LGBTQ+.** I may look tanned, but a step too far to claim I am a child of David Dickinson.

Fantastic to have been able to attend the 🌈 British LGBTQ Awards 🌈 on Friday, representing Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in the Top 12 Inclusive Employers category. It's been a privilege to be leading our Halo LGBTQ+ network and help shape how our firm responds to the challenges that continue to face our community. I would encourage everyone during this Pride month to know that (in the words of the worthy overall winner, Tesco) 'every little helps' when it comes to LGBTQ+ inclusion.(and proud also to say that, after having cycled past Russell Tovey multiple times a week on my commute, I think we're now on waving terms).Georgina Court |Andrew Murphy | Emma Probyn | Jessica Harris | Leah Piercy | JJ Thompson

Just as I was at my laptop at 9pm on a Friday night waiting to hit "publish" on a blog following Royal Assent of the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act, someone at the CMA had the task of hitting "publish" on its (admittedly more important) draft digital guidance accompanying the Act before the clock struck midnight and the pre-election period was ushered in. Worlds collide and see below for our summary of key takeaways of the CMA's guidance relating to the new digital markets regime.Preview: "SMS" will no longer bring only nostalgia of texting on a Nokia 3310. 📱 Rikki Haria | Saif Gilani

To quote Alesha Dixon, “Does he wash up?” 🛀 The answer: Yes. The 📱 UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 💻 has finally (just!) received Royal Assent and has now become law in the pre-election wash-up.Read our blog below (and sign up for updates) and “brush up” on the key changes that will be coming into force later in 2024 and beyond. 🖌(and I’ll be using the Bank Holiday weekend to “clean up” my LinkedIn act)

Might seem less flashy amidst my peers’ promotions last week being accompanied by a change in firm name and colour palette (iykyk), but delighted to have been promoted to Senior Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.Looking forward to the (still ‘Freshfields-blue’-coloured) future ahead.

On the final day of LGBTQ+ History Month, delighted that Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has been shortlisted in the upcoming British LGBT Awards Top Inclusive Employers category.Very proud to have been leading our Halo and Halo Champions employee networks for a number of years now - and it is great to see the firm's wider inclusion efforts and progress so far being recognised alongside the other worthy employers.Particular thanks to Helen Ouseley, Amy Tye and Rachel Brooks for all the work they do.Find out more about our LGBTQ+ efforts in our annual D&I report, here: https://lnkd.in/enZqhsmy

Yesterday we launched our annual anthology of the 10 key themes in antitrust for 2024.While still focused around "antitrust", the regimes that clients must consider when doing deals or carrying out day-to-day business is becoming increasingly more complex - whether that be digital-specific regimes, or foreign investment and subsidy regulations, to name a few. However, now old consumer protection tools are being revitalised and reformed to add another string to regulators' bows - and another issue for clients to take more seriously when considering their regulatory compliance and planning their business strategies.Great to have had the opportunity to consider this increasing trend as part of Theme 5 to our report - check it out below.
