Tammy Slaton has lost 440 pounds since the 2020 premiere of 1000-lb Sisters, and she has been having fun experimenting with costumes since slimming down. When Tammy made her television debut, she weighed over 600 pounds and was warned by doctors that she had to lose weight. Though she knew the doctors were right, Tammy couldn't stay focused on her diet. By the time season 3 came to a close, her weight went up to 720 pounds. Demoralized, Tammy blew her diet and was partying all the time.
Things got worse when a health scare landed Tammy in the emergency room. After she woke up from her medically induced coma, Tammy realized she would die if she didn't lose weight. The 1000-lb Sisters season 5 star checked into a diet rehabilitation facility, treated her food addiction and had bariatric surgery. By December 2023, Tammy weighed in at 285 pounds, which changed her life. Since losing weight, Tammy has enjoyed experimenting with fashion, including fun costumes. No one loves an unboxing video as much as Tammy does. As a popular social media influencer, Tammy often receives gifts from small businesses, hoping that she'll advertise their products. In October 2023, Tammy posted an unboxing video where she opened a huge box of candles, as well as an oil promising to have fat-burning properties. In October 2023, Tammy posted a TikTok of herself wearing a fun skeleton one-piece jumpsuit. In the clip, she does a full twirl in the costume as an unidentified golden retriever joins in on the fun. The second part of the TikTok video features Tammy in an Egyptian-style costume, with a long black gown, a gold bodice, and a dramatic headpiece. 1000-lb Sisters fans took to the comment section to support Tammy.

The 1000-lb Sisters star is a huge Disney fan. In January, Tammy posted a TikTok clip in which she danced around in a head-to-toe, zip-up Jack Skeleton-themed black-and-white jumpsuit. The post, which has an incredible 821.9K likes, has a caption that reads, "Ik i can’t dance but don’t kill my vibe. Just let me know I’m having fun lol." In the clip, Tammy's dancing around, which is not something she used to be able to do before losing weight.

When the 1000-lb Sisters star checked herself into weight loss rehab, she met another patient there, Caleb Willingham. The two fell in love and got married during the season. Tammy lost weight faster than Caleb did and left rehab on her own. Though they spoke daily, the separation was difficult for both of them as Caleb continued to struggle with his food addiction. Sadly, soon after Tammy left rehab, Caleb passed away from health issues. Tammy was devastated by Caleb's death, but she stayed firmly on her path to weight loss, which is what Caleb would have wanted.

The show 1000-lb Sisters centers around the weight-loss journeys of 37-year-old Tammy and her 36-year-old sister, Amy Slaton. When the series premiered, Amy weighed over 400 pounds. Amy wanted to lose weight so she and her husband at the time, Michael Halterman, could have children. Motherhood has always been Amy's dream. Unlike Tammy, Amy could focus on her diet during season 1. Amy got bariatric surgery, dropped 125 pounds, and gave birth to two healthy boys, Glenn and Gage Halterman. Sadly, Amy and Michael announced their divorce in 2023.
Now Amy is struggling with her mental health and living life as a single mother.
Tammy and Amy aren't the only members of the Slaton family who lost a significant amount of weight over the years. Tammy and Amy's brother, 44-year-old Chris Combs, had bariatric surgery during season 3 and lost 150 pounds. The father and grandfather wanted to lose weight because he wanted to continue being around for his family. After losing so much weight, the fan-favorite 1000-lb Sisters star is eager to get skin removal surgery.
Their other sisters, Amanda Halterman and Misty Wentworth, have also lost weight since 1000-lb Sisters began. Both women had bariatric surgery on the same day in March 2023. Though it's unclear how much weight 48-year-old Misty and 43-year-old Amanda have lost, they both look considerably thinner since surgery. 1000-lb Sisters season 6 will likely follow all the Slatons as they continue to pursue their incredible health and weight-loss goals.
